West Clear Creek July 4th 2014

Finally got the Hi-Lo up and out of the valley Friday morning and went up to the rim above Strawberry to the West Clear Creek wilderness. Paul was the last to get there, and as we set up his tent, the skies opened up and it rained for a couple hours and water was every where.

After a quiet night we got up Saturday and loaded the trucks and headed for the trail head and dropped into the canyon,

Our 500 foot or so drop into the canyon took about 30 minutes and about 3/4  of a mile. Your effort is rewarded with a beautiful canyon and creek.

The grand kids and dogs had a blast in the water. While the older kids, lounged on the 'beach' and skipped rocks. Lots of other people in the canyon, some fishing, others hiking along.

Then the hike out was upon us, straight up, Buddy did much better than we expected, made it out with no problems, although some of us would go a little bit, rest and go some more. Still a good hike.
After lunch we make ice cream, every one gets a turn to churn, if they want to eat some.
Very tasty strawberry banana.

Sunday morning we did a geocache to pivot rock canyon cabin, a cross country hike about a mile and a half each way, nice hike, the cabin isn't much but it is pretty cool. We found the geocache as well, tortuga cabin. it is a plastic turtle neat the cabin.

Had a good 3 days camping and just relaxing. but as with everything, all good things must come to an end. Back home and into the heat.
Happy 4th of July.
