34

Sept 8 1978, Mikie married Ginger!  34 years later we are still celebrating and finding some time for ourselves.

She said this looked level.

We headed toward Globe and then to Roosevelt lake and finally headed up into the mountains toward Young. Halfway to Young there is a 180 foot waterfall called Workman's Creek. About a half mile before the falls, is a campground, We spent the night sliding from the tailgate to the cab, and early in the morning we went further up the mountain. First stop the falls.

This picture does not do it justice.

Ginger was able to stand near the edge and look over, the water is not much so there is not a big pool at the bottom, but the creek goes several miles from the falls past the campground.
This gives a little perspective of how high.

Remember Ginger is not a big fan of heights, she didn't like standing this close to the edge.
Careful it is slippery.

This is the creek about 10 feet before it goes over the edge, it is slippery and if something like grass happens to tickle your back side and you happen to panic and jump and get the instant fear that you are going into the water and over the falls........
This is the picture you get!!!

Yes that really happened!

She is still alive, she did not go over the edge.

A little further up stream there was a little monitoring station, that has a bridge over the creek and looked like a good place for a picture.
Table for 4
At the top of the Sierra Anches  mountains is Aztec peak, 7649 feet or so, we found that either the ranger who is stationed at the look out tower has plenty of spare time, or someone else loved the view enough to set up an out door kitchen for all to enjoy.
Outdoor furniture.

Some times when Ginger talks about outdoor furniture, I think of the basic lawn chairs and picnic tables, not slabs of sandstone carefully stacked and arranged so well.

I should be holding a cold beverage, Pepsi of course.
Not a GPS.

The clouds were rolling in just over head, but the temperature was just perfect, a little sun then some more clouds, wow!
Roosevelt Lake.
From the top of the mountain it is only 15 miles or so to the lake, as the crow flies.

Ginger on the tower.
Remember earlier I mentioned Ginger does not like heights? Well she still doesn't, but she climbed up to see the view, the ranger was not home so this is as high as she could go, yes she was breathing hard and had a death grip on both hand rails, but she went up.

Her perspective looking down.
Be warned here comes the mushy part.

Happy Anniversary I still love you and cant wait for next years adventure.
