Ginger and Mike
|
35 Years ago Mike and Ginger were married in Marshall Texas, in the home of Ginger's grandparents, Nonnie and Granddad. A small simple ceremony, with our Texas family.

Well 35 years have passed and we are still together, Mike still sneaks food off of Gingers plate when we go out to eat, Ginger still thinks Mike is silly.

Sept 8 2013 |
Friday night we started toward Flagstaff with the Crew cab and the Hi-Lo, we were not the fastest going up the hills, but we were doing alright. Somewhere between Rye and Payson the alternator was starting to overcharge. The faster the engine went the higher the voltage was, so that meant even slower up the hills......no good. At the first place I could find to turn around we did, and abandoned the trip.
Saturday morning we decided to try again with the Bonneville and make a day trip instead. We got to Flagstaff with no problems and were able to check out the Rt 66 car show.

I really like the sparkle. |
|
TR-6, just had 2 engines in the shop for boring. |
|
Ginger loves this color, and the big block engine. |
|
Lots of Camaros |
We had a good time looking at all the cars and walking around the downtown area of Flagstaff, then we found the one car in the bunch that just did not belong, we laughed a long time, and spent a lot of time looking at this car. We just could not believe someone would bring one of these here.
|
A 1972 Mercury Capri! |
Our first car that we bought together was almost identical to this one, it was a 1973 Capri.
|
Our '73 Capri and our '72 Opel Wagon |
After the car show we went to Lowell Observatory, and learned about the planets and the dwarf planet, Pluto. Took a tour and saw how far the planets are to each other, in a scale of 1 inch = 1 million miles, earth is 93 inches from the sun and Pluto is 3670 inches or nearly 4 billion miles.
We also went back to the observatory Saturday night, but with the cloud cover, night viewing through the Clark telescope was unavailable, but we were able to get a quick peek at Saturn through a smaller telescope.
|
This is where Clyde Tombaugh discovered the planet Pluto |
|
The Clark telescope, 24 inch lens and 33 feet long and nearly 5 tons. |

In the case is the adapter used to hold a camera for pictures
