Tours and Mines

Ginger and John

Mike

The Saturday after Thanksgiving we took a ride toward Florence AZ to ride the ATV's.
Our goal was to ride through Box Canyon and head toward the Coke Ovens. Our adventure started with finding a stuck Dodge Durango just off the side of the road, buried up to the rear axle. Several cars had already passed them by, must have been more interested in riding than helping someone. So we stopped, found a tow strap in the back of the truck, unhitched the trailer and pulled them out. Only after did we think about cameras, oh well, but good deed done, (that ought to count for something).
We went further down the road, unloaded and took off down the trail, it was very busy and in the narrow canyon there were several places where traffic backed up. There would be nearly a dozen vehicles waiting for their turn to go through some of the narrow obstacles.
A Jeep getting ready to go over the rocks.
Really twists the suspension, notice front and rear tires.

After we made it through the canyon, we missed our right turn, but found an old abandoned house,  and further down the trail, a small mine hidden behind trees and about 15 feet up the side of the canon wall.
We turned around and found our turn and traveled on into some rough but pretty country.
Only a few of the trails that are out here in the wilderness. We rode along and came to another tight rocky section. John was leading and felt that we could possibly have problems trying to navigate this one. So we stopped near a cattle pond and watched several Toyota's and Jeeps twist and scrape through.

Ginger looking good and taking a break.

On the way back Ginger got a little close to some rocks and lost her balance, and tipped the bike up on to its side and used her body to cushion the crash. She said it all happened in slow motion, and since I was behind her I was quick to get it off of her.
Just a couple of bruised on her shin and a few scrapes on her arms.
Good idea to have a helmet, gloves, and long sleeves.

I am trying to discover the answer to the question, "When will I be too old to crash?"
