This year we broke from tradition and started another. Monday night we put on some Christmas music and the boys got the Christmas Tree out of the closet. Paul and Julia separated the branches into groups. Then the children and I fluffed the branches and put the tree together. While we were dishing ice cream (of course), Michael put on the lights. Then the children put the ornaments on the tree. It was really fun and we have had only one ornament fatality so far. Could be called a family home evening, but we better not, someone might think we were having fun.

your tree looks lovely.

I believe the tradition before was not to put any ornaments on the tree until Christmas Eve. This was to protect the ornaments from meeting a premature death. Although I don't believe this tradition started until I was married. Looks lovely! When would you like me to bring Big Rig over?

The tradition was to set up the tree, wait till Michael had free time to put up the lights, then on Christmas eve we put the ornaments on. This started because I was too frustrated guarding the tree. Also since Dawn was a baby and decided to chew some of the glass balls the year she was one we had eliminated them from our decor. Last year I purchased some to fill in the gaps where some of our children had received their ornaments when they left home. This was our first year in a long time where we all got together and participated at one time. It was very nice. Oh, and bring Big Rig on he won't stay all December.Grandchildren are always welcome.
