Box Canyon Suzuki and Jeep

John and his Jeep

Saturday after running errands in the morning with Ginger, John and I had some free time and decided to make a run to box canyon near Florence. After several detours, because of the Renaissance Festival, we made it to Box Canyon where we met up with Dawn and Andrew who were out there camping. We loaded Dawn, Rigdon and Sienna into the Suzuki and Julia into the Jeep with John and headed to the canyon.
Mike and the Sidekick

There was plenty of water running down the creek which kept the dust down, we even passed someone trying to pan for gold. Several Jeeps and quads were in the canyon so you had to be careful of oncoming traffic.
We went up as far at the Sidekick would allow, the rocks got to big for the ground clearance so we had to turn around, not an easy task when the canyon is 12 to 15 ft wide and the cars are 8 ft long. We came over these rocks going in and now we have to go ever them going out. Only a few minor scrapes going over them.
Same rocks just looking back from the Jeep
Are you sure that we came this way?

Not the greatest on articulation, but out it came
Wow that was fun, you can tell by the smiles!

Hiking Scar Face-13th of March 2010

and walking and walking,
with lost of rest stops and pulling to the side to let people and pets by.

Walking with more resting, lots of water, more resting,
and then the toting began. A little here a little there.
The views were great it was not too hot or too cold.
Not too steep, or too flat,

Finally we reached the top. Two hours later.
We had snacks and more water.
Watched the squirrls and other wild life.

Then we started down the hill.

Poor Rigdon had had enough.
Emilee carried him all the way down.
He napped.
Devin though would walk awhile and then I would put him on my shoulders for awhile.
There was some conversation about how far and when, but not much.

All in all I had a good time and I hope they all did.
I did look at the map at the bottom.
We traveled 1.6 miles up and 1.6 miles down.
The average time it should take a group is 2 hours,
we did it in 4.
I would recommend that the age limit on this one is 4 years old,
unless you plan on toting small people.
Also long pants for everyone to avoid scraped knees.
I love my grand kids and my children,
they would have made great pioneers.

Rachaels Birthday

A long time ago in a land far away there was a King and Queen who were very happy. Their kingdom was small, 10 x 55 feet, but was slowly growing. One day in March near the middle of the month, the Queen was taking a shower, and suddenly there came a knock at the door, it was the stork! The stork said "you have to go now!!!" So the King and Queen loaded up in their chariot and took a leisurely drive to the hospital, all the time the Queen was encouraging the King to drive faster, the stork told them to hurry, and the Queen didn't want to miss the arrival of the new Princess. Soon they were at the Hospital and the servants had them waiting in the emergency room when one of the delivery servants looked at the Queen and told her that she needed to go to the delivery room, you don't need to sign in right now you are a Queen. The delivery servant whisked the Queen up stairs with the king following close behind. They were escorted to the royal chamber where the delivery servant asked them to wait. In a few short minutes the new princess was delivered to the King and Queen. They were very happy and she was very beautiful, so they named her Rachael.
Happy Birthday Rachael
