I'm going to pump you up.

Sunday Nov 14 Days Inn parking lot, getting pumped for the drive to Hana
You will find that early in the morning, us Gillespies do not perform at our peak,
it's 6 am for crying out loud. Anyway Marlon was going easy on Gary, so not to make him feel to bad.
OK for those of you out there who have 2 door Jeeps, I am sorry for you, because I have found that with a 4 door jeep you can fill it with 6 lovely ladies.
Monique, Lori, Ginger, Cassie, Brenda and Heidi.
for the rest of you:
It's a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.

Mmmmmm if you live on an island in Alaska, and have had Krispy Kreame donuts, they were not freshly made. Well on our way out to Hana we had to stop at the Krispy Kreame donut shop and get some hot, fresh, delicious, right out of the fryer, and recently drizzled, with a sugar glaze, melt in your mouth, yummylicious, golden brown delights.
They were OK.
Can we get another dozen?!
7 a.m. and we are at one of the popular surf spots along the Hana Highway, it is already packed with surfers waiting for the next perfect wave, the water is nice, about 70 degrees. And the waves are rolling in about 4 to 6 feet, just right.

Further around the island we reach the little town Keanae, the waves and surf and wind were wild, sharp jagged rocks what an awesome display from mother nature.
We thought we had the area to ourselves, even made a joke that we would go down here, cause the tourists don't go here. Well after about 15 minutes 4 of the short tour buses roll up, and the area is loaded up with old people in tacky Hawaiian shirts.
So we mad a quick exit back to Aunty Sandys banana bread stand, and found a line there to,
Dang!
But as soon as we could we got us a loaf of fresh bread, it was real good, only lasted about 2 miles.
This was typical of what the road was, curving and windy, I don't think there is a straight section anywhere along it. The mist kept it nice, and we came across several rainbows, but you could tell there had not been very much rain, the streams were almost dry and only a few waterfalls along the way.
This is one of the rainbows we found by accident. you can see the road on the left of the picture as it winds along the edge of the cliff. can't go to fast there, are several areas that are only a car and a half wide.

Saturday Snorkeling Maui

Aloha from beautiful Maui Hawaii!
Saturday Nov 13 2010
We were up early in the morning and wandered around on the beach and found a little grotto that we could snuggle up in and take a picture. The ocean was awesome, about 70 degrees water temp, and very inviting. It wasn't long before Ginger was putting on her snorkel gear and running to the water. Wow the colors and fish were amazing, we spent about 4 hours in the water just swimming around looking at fish, coral, and the occasional turtle.
This was the first turtle that I saw, it slowly cruised toward me and was getting bigger and bigger, it passed within about 4 or 5 feet of me, it's head was huge, thank goodness it was a vegetarian.

This is the same turtle passing by me, not interested at all in me.

The under water camera that we have took some amazing pictures, the pictures had a blue tint to them so I loaded the software that came with it for editing and it does an amazing job, this is exactly what the reef and angel fish looked like.
Yes these are our photos, they are not store bought.

Another shot of the coral and some four spot butterfly fish.
All I can say is Wow.

Aloha we are on our way to HAWAII!!!
After 6 hours in a can with wings we found an island in the middle of the ocean
We are on our final approach

Arrived about noon, took the shuttle for the rental car, found the hotel, and were to early to check in. So we walked around Waikiki had dinner at Maui Taco, (a place in the mall) took a few pictures, went back to the hotel checked in, and then went to the beach to walk in the water, and wait for the sunset. After that we met together to eat dinner.

Dukes, not named for the cowboy, sorry dad, but for the surfer/swimmer, from Hawai'i who won gold and silver medals in the olympics for swimming in 1912 and 1920. Good food and lots of fun,
we even have matching shirts, thanks Gary and Heidi, you will see them later.
Aloha!
